Food fortification = the use of adding everyday food items such as butter, cream and milk to meals boost the energy and protein content of the diet.

IDDSI = International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative. This is the framework for texture modified food and drink.

Malnutrition = is the result of an imbalance of nutrients in the body which causes measurable effects on body form, function and clinical outcomes.

MUST = Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool, used to identify adults who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition.

NG feeding = a feeding tube which is placed up the nose and down into the stomach which can be used to give you fluids, medications and liquid nutrition directly into your stomach.

PEG feeding = The use of a feeding tube directly into the stomach to provide supplementary nutrition or to meet your nutritional needs using a liquid feed. It can also be used to administer water and medications.
